Advanced Manufacturing Instructor- Seminole County Public Schools

Seminole County Public Schools seeks a classroom teacher to provide instruction in the Lake Mary High School Advanced Manufacturing & Innovation Academy. The successful applicant will teach a state-approved program in Advanced Manufacturing Technology, which includes CAD, manual and CNC machining, 3D printing, and other manufacturing processes. The overall goal of the academy is to prepare students for various careers in advanced manufacturing. The program includes a teaching classroom with high-end computers and a separate lab facility with modern equipment. It is supported by a program advisory committee comprised of local industry partners.

An applicant is qualified for this positon with either:

  1. A bachelor’s degree and holding or becoming certified as a Florida educator in technology education, or
  2. A high school diploma with at least 6 years of full-time (or part-time equivalent) documented work experience in the manufacturing industry in automation, production, robotics, and/or electronics. A combination of post-secondary training and work experience may also be acceptable. Work experience will be reviewed and approved by SCPS Human Resources staff prior to employment offer.


The instructor must also have, or be willing to attain, industry certifications from the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS) and the Manufacturing Skill Standards Council (MSSC). Other important attributes for a successful instructor include a focus on student safety in the lab, patience working with adolescent learners from diverse backgrounds and willingness to market the program to potential students and families.
